Genderová analýza vybraných básní Edgara Allana Poea - Smrt krásných žen

Abstract

The diploma thesis "Gender analysis of selected poems by Edgar Allan Poe - The Death of a Beautiful Woman" deals with a gender literary analysis of selected poems by the novelist Edgar A. Poe. The given concepts are examined through the tools of feminist literary theory, while the basic analytical category will be the concept of gender. In my work I will use the method of resisting reading, the method of close reading and the "reading as a woman" practice. The methodological-theoretical part of the work presents the writer Edgar A. Poe and his relationships with women. In the analytical part, I will take a look at selected poems, where I will subject the poems to a comparative analysis, while the key topic for comparison will be the search for the concept of death of beautiful women. Using gender, I will try to find new meanings and interpretations of selected poems.

Diplomová práce "Genderová analýza vybraných básní Edgara Allana Poea - Smrt krásných žen" se zabývá genderovou literární analýzou vybraných básní romanopisce Edgara A. Poea. Dané koncepty jsou zkoumány prostřednictvím nástrojů feministické literární teorie, přičemž základní analytickou kategorií bude gender. V práci budu používat metodu vzdorného čtení, metodu close reading a "reading as a woman". Metodologicko-teoretická část představuje spisovatele Edgara A. Poea a jeho vztahy se ženami. V analytické části podrobím komparativní analýze vybrané básně, přičemž stěžejním tématem pro komparaci bude hledání konceptu smrti krásných žen. Pomocí genderu se pokusím o nalezení nových významů a interpretací vybraných básní.
