Protestní paradigma: Rámcování hnutí Black Lives Matter a nastolování agendy v českých médiích

Abstract

This diploma thesis deals with the framing of the Black Lives Matter movement and related protests in the Czech news media. The aim of this work is to reveal the way in which the Czech media informed about the Black Lives Matter movement with the help of quantitative content framing analysis. The theoretical part of the thesis deals with the theory of social and media construction of reality by Berger and Luckmann, which plays the role of an overarching theory. It also deals with the agenda-setting theory, which it expands with the concept of framing. The agenda-setting theory describes the ability of the mass media to influence the significance of topics in the eyes of the public. The theoretical part also describes a brief history of the Black Lives Matter movement and the events that led to its emergence. Furthermore, the relationship of the mass media to racism is introduced and the concept of the protest paradigm is introduced. The work then describes the previous findings of the protest paradigm, which are then used in the analytical part. The methodological part then presents the research goal, questions and hypotheses, defines the sample set and the research method used, including the characteristics of individual variables. Tato diplomová práce se zabývá rámcováním hnutí Black Lives Matter a s ním spojených protestů v českých zpravodajských médiích. Cílem této práce je za pomoci kvantitativní obsahové analýzy rámců odhalit způsob, jakým česká média informovala o hnutí Black Lives Matter. Teoretická část práce se věnuje teorii sociální a mediální konstrukce reality Bergera a Luckmanna, která plní roli zastřešující teorie. Dále se věnuje teorii nastolování agendy (agenda setting theory), kterou rozšiřuje o koncept rámcování (framing theory). Teorie nastolování agendy popisuje schopnost masových médií ovlivňovat významnost témat v očích veřejnosti. V teoretické části je také popsána stručná historie hnutí Black Lives Matter a události, které vedly k jeho vzniku. Dále je představen vztah masových médií k rasismu a je představen koncept protestního paradigmatu. Dále práce popisuje předchozí poznatky studií protestního paradigmatu, ze kterých následně vychází ve své analytické části. Metodologická část pak prezentuje výzkumný cíl, otázky a hypotézy, definuje výzkumný soubor a užitou metodu výzkumu včetně charakteristiky jednotlivých proměnných.
