Severské státy a jejich podpora Estonsku, Lotyšsku a Litvě na jejich cestě do evropských struktur

Abstract

Diplomová práce "Severské státy a jejich podpora Estonsku, Lotyšsku a Litvě na jejich cestě do evropských struktur" pojednává o zahraniční politice Dánska, Švédska a Finska ke třem pobaltským státům v devadesátých letech. Hlavní důraz je kladen na bilaterální podporu, kterou tři severské státy poskytly Estonsku, Lotyšsku a Litvě na jejich cestě do evropských struktur, zvláště do EU. Práce se snaží vysvětlit, co vedlo severské státy k tak výrazné podpoře pobaltských států v devadesátých letech a jaké motivy lze za touto podporou najít. Přestože je hlavní důraz kladen na vývoj v devadesátých letech, práce se stručně věnuje i historii vztahů mezi severskými a pobaltskými státy. Tento náhled do historie umožní určit změny, ke kterým došlo v zahraniční politice Dánska, Švédska a Finska k pobaltským státům v devadesátých letech. Hlavní teze práce je založena na tvrzení, že přestože severské státy měly několik důvodů pro podporu pobaltských států, bezpečnostní motivy lze považovat za hlavní důvod aktivní zahraniční politiky severských států v Pobaltí. Práce poskytuje přehled motivů severských států, které je vedly k podpoře pobaltských států a zároveň se snaží poukázat na rozdíly a podobnosti v zahraniční politice tří severských států k Estonsku, Lotyšsku a Litvě.

Diploma thesis "Nordic countries and their support of Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania on their way to European structures" deals with foreign policies of Denmark, Sweden and Finland towards three Baltic countries in the 1990s. The paper is focused on Danish, Swedish and Finnish bilateral support of three Baltic countries on their way to European structures, particularly to the EU. The thesis strives to explain a rationale and motives which were behind decisions of Nordic countries to help Baltic countries in the 1990s. Although the thesis is primarily focused on a development in the 1990s, a short part is also devoted to a historical development of the relations between Nordic and Baltic countries. This historical excursion helps to identify changes of Nordic foreign policies (Baltic policies) which occurred in the 1990s. The main proposition of this thesis is a statement that though there were several motives behind decisions of Nordic states to help Baltic countries, the main factor which caused high involvement of Denmark, Sweden and Finland in the Baltic Sea area were security related factors.
