Abstract

Táto bakalárska práca popisuje použitie a vývoj softwarového diela Growler. Program Growler je grafickým editorom ontológií zapísaných v jazyku OWL, patriaceho medzi formáty sémantického webu. Editor je schopný dokumenty vo formáte OWL nacítat', modifikovat' a opät' uložit'. Growler umožnuje návrh ontológie vo vizuálnom, prípadne nevizuálnom móde a úpravu špecifických elementov vyskytujúcich sa v syntaxi RDF/XML. Medzi jednotlivými módmi sa dá l'ubovol'ne prepínat'. Vizualizácia zobrazuje prostriedky spolu s priradenými vlastnost'ami. Znázornené prostriedky je možné priamo editovat'. Okrem grafickej editácie disponuje Growler sadou formulárov slúžiacich pre nevizuálnu úpravu tried, vlastností a indivíduí. Prostriedky vo formulárovom editore sú reprezentované pomocou hierarchicky usporiadaného stromu. V aplikácii sa pracuje na úrovni porjektov, do ktorých sa ukladajú dokumenty ontológie. Zároveň existuje možnost' do projektu importovat' externú ontológiu na základe zadaného URI. Growler je vyvíjaný a distribuovaný ako plugin pre platformu Eclipse.

This bachelor thesis describes usage and development of the Growler software project. The Growler programme is a graphical editor of ontologies written in the OWL language, which belongs to the (group of) semantic web formats. The editor is capable of reading, modifying and saving documents in the OWL format. The Growler allows designing of ontologies in a visual and a non-visual mode and modification of special elements that exist in the RDF/XML syntax. Users are free to switch between the individual modes. The visualisation displays resources together with their assigned properties. Displayed resources can be directly edited. Besides graphical editation the Growler contains a set of forms designed for non-visual modification of classes, properties and individuals. Resources in the form editor are represented using a hierarchically ordered tree. A user works with the application on a project level, into which ontology documents are inserted. Simultaneously there is a possibility of importing an external ontology into a project, based on a given URI. The Growler is developed and distributed as a plugin for the Eclipse platform.
