Hence to understand the French "influential diplomacy13" in Central and Eastern Europe, it is important to analyse what influence France aims at through its cultural diplomacy? Central and Eastern Europe is a vast area regrouping different countries. Poland appears as the biggest country in the region that integrated the EU. Thus, I decided to take this country as an example. I will explore in a cases study what influence France tries to have with the French Institute of Warsaw and Cracow since they are the main institution supporting the French cultural diplomacy locally. By exploring the publications of this institution from 2018 to 2020 on Twitter and its website, I attempt to explore through Sevin's pathway of analysis the communication strategy of the institute as regards the impact it seeks to have on the public opinion, the relationship dynamics and the public debates in Poland. This analysis will allow me to compare the French public diplomacy done by this institution with the main theoretical understanding of influence according to realists, liberals and constructivists. Therefore, this thesis attempt to understand what foreign impact can try to have France in the current European diplomatic framework by using soft means of influence.
