Metoda překladu v beletristických překladech z maďarštiny 1945-2006

Abstract

The objective ofthis thesis is to define the prevailing method oftranslating Hungarian fiction into Czech between 1945 and 2006. The theoretical part of the thesis is based on the thinking of leading translation theorists, mainly Jiří Levý, and other Czech, Slovak and intemational theoreticians whose approach to translation methods is not prescriptive. In the first part of the thesis, we give an overview of translation methods. In the second part, we offer an explanation of how we conducted our research into the actual translation method in the given period, and pro vide a description of the results obtained on a sample of 40 translations. With regard to the research methods, we discuss the prevailing method of translating the prose, poetry and drama separately. First, we exemplifY the results on individual aspects of translated texts, then summarize them and offer an extensive insight into the method of translating the particular genres of literature. With the translation method being a need for compromise, the thesis is an attempt to give a comprehensive view of translating fiction and to identifY the most frequently repeated solutions to translation problems.

Cílem této práce je definovat, jaká metoda překladu převládala v beletristických překladech z maďarštiny do češtiny v období mezi lety 1945 a 2006. Její teoretický základ tvoří úvahy vybraných autorit v čele s Jiřím Levým, ale také dalších českých, slovenských a světových teoretiků překladu, kteří nepřistupují k otázce metody překladu preskriptivně. Východiska práce shrnuje první - teoretická - část. Praktická část pak popisuje výzkum reálného stavu metody překladu v daném období na vzorku 40 beletristických překladů maďarských literárních děl do češtiny. Kromě metod výzkumu popisuje především jeho výsledky. S ohledem na zvolený postup při výzkumu pojednává odděleně metodu překladu převažující v próze, poezii a dramatu, nejprve na jednotlivých aspektech překladových textů, poté výsledky sumarizuje a podává ucelený náhled na metodu překladu daného literárního druhu. Práce tak usiluje o to, aby vycházejíc z metody překladu jako nutnosti kompromisu podala co možná nejkomplexnější pohled na problematiku překladu beletrie a definovala převládající úzus řešení opakujících se překladatelských problémů.
