Teoretická část se zaměřuje na výklad pojmu morální distres, jak a kdy může vzniknout, čím může ohrozit. Definuje pojem morální citlivost, morální reziduum. Definuje nároky na zdravotní sestry a determinanty, které mohou vést k výskytu morálního distresu ve zdravotnictví. Vykládá o stresové reakci obecně, aby byl zřejmý jeho vliv na somatickou stránku. V závěru jsou uvedené jednoduché postupy, jak lze dopad stresové reakce snížit. Empirická část obsahuje výzkum pomocí české verze nizozemského dotazníku o morálním distresu sester. Výzkum proběhl u 69 sester, které pracovaly na ARO, interní JIP, na chirurgické neonatologické JIP: Nebyly zjištěny žádné statisticky významné rozdíly ve výskytu prožívání morálního distresu pokud jde o věk sester, délkou praxe, úrovni vzdělání sester.
