Mediální obraz románu Kosmonaut z Čech a jeho interpretace

Abstract

Práce se zaměřuje na debutový román Jaroslava Kalfaře Kosmonaut z Čech (2017), který do češtiny přeložila z anglického originálu Spaceman of Bohemia Veronika Volhejnová. Hlavním účelem práce je podat vlastní interpretaci románu a ukázat, že nejde o plytké sci-fi, ale o žánrově těžko zařaditelný a složitě komponovaný román, v němž autor především prezentuje zahraničním čtenářům Českou republiku a národ. Tato interpretace se zakládá hlavně na analýze autorových postupů a jím užitých motivů. V první části práce jde o to, jaké události z české historie Kalfařův vypravěč tematizuje a jak o nich mluví, následně o popis Čechů a jejich špatných vlastností včetně postkomunistického smýšlení části obyvatel. Ve druhé části práce je popsán přímo vypravěč a zároveň hlavní hrdina kosmonaut Jakub Procházka, a to za pomoci osob a míst, které ho formovaly a které autor opět zvolil velmi důmyslně. Závěrečná část práce obsahuje důkladný rozbor Kalfařova stylu, který je na základě četných podobností popisován komparativně za pomoci stylu Bohumila Hrabala, který též pojil vysoké s nízkým, pojmenovával některé postavy ironicky a užíval motivů např. sebevraždy či reklamy.

This bachelor's thesis deals with Jaroslav Kalfar's debut novel Kosmonaut z Cech (2017), translated from the English Spaceman of Bohemia original version by Veronika Volhejnova. The main aim of the thesis is to provide an own interpretation of the novel and prove it is not an ordinary sci-fi book but a well composed novel that does not fit any conventional genre boxes and presents the Czech republic and its people to the world. The interpretation is based on an analysis of author's methods and motives. The first part of the thesis focuses on the historical events Kalfar's narrator describes and the way he does it, and the way Czech people with their bad qualities including postcomunism way of thinking of a relevant percentage of them are described. The second part of the thesis focuses on a description of the narrator and the main hero of the story - the spaceman Jakub Prochazka - using people and places that shaped him and were once again chosen very thoughtfully by the author. The last part of the thesis provides a thorough analysis of Kalfar's style based on a comparison with Bohumil Hrabal who also used contrast juxtapositions of "the high" and "the low", named his characters in an ironic way and used motives of advertisement or suicide.
