Abstract

dissertation thesis: Construction of motherhood and feminity in the three generations Author: Mgr. Romana Marková Volejníčková This dissertation aims to analyze the norms of "good" motherhood, discourses, and social practices related to these norms, and their connection and interrelationship with the issue of agency and women's/mothers' free choice under specific conditions over the course of three defined periods. In particular, in this study, I focused on the prevalent conditions (be it legislation, i.e. family and social policies, expert discourses in the field of psychology, demography, pediatrics, etc., but also societal expectations of women within family and employment) during the three defined periods. I analyzed how individual standards of "good" motherhood and "proper" child care are defined and conceived under these circumstances, in which the interviewed mothers carried out their motherhood projects. Furthermore, I focused on what choices mothers could make in these normative conditions, what choices they considered available to them and realistic in each one period, and whether some of the mothers' personal traits may have bolstered or diminished their ability to make informed choices concerning their motherhood project. disertační práce s názvem Konstrukce mateřství a feminity ve třech vybraných generacích Autorka: Mgr. Romana Marková Volejníčková Cílem této dizertační práce byla analýza norem "dobrého" mateřství, diskurzů a sociálních praktik, které se k těmto normám váží, a jejich propojení a vzájemného vztahu s otázkou aktérství a svobodné volby žen/matek v rámci specifických podmínek ve třech definovaných obdobích. Konkrétně jsem se v této práci zaměřila za prvé na to, jaké existovaly podmínky (z hlediska legislativy, tj. rodinná a sociální politika, z hlediska expertních diskurzů v oblasti psychologie, demografie, pediatrie apod., ale také z hlediska společenských očekávání od žen v rodině i zaměstnání) ve třech definovaných obdobích. Analyzovala jsem, jak jsou v těchto podmínkách definovány a uchopeny jednotlivé normy "dobrého" mateřství a "správné" péče o děti, v rámci kterých dotázané matky realizovaly své projekty mateřství. A zaměřila jsem také na to, jaké volby mohly v rámci těchto normativních podmínek matky realizovat, jaké volby vůbec ony samy v jednotlivých obdobích považovaly za možné a reálné a zdali některé z osobních charakteristik matek posílily nebo naopak utlumily možnost matek činit informované volby v rámci svého projektu mateřství.
