Horské krajiny očima anglických cestovatelů 18. století v komparativní perspektivě

Abstract

This thesis deals with the image of mountains, mountain landscape and nature in selected English travelogues of the eighteenth century describing journeys to four different areas - the Alpine region, the Scottish Highlands, the Irish mountain ranges and Wales. These destinations are looked at as distinct cognitive frameworks or social contexts for perception of the same or similar - i.e., mountainous - type of landscape. The aim of the thesis is to identify, present and explain the similarities and differences in the description and evaluation of such landscape between the areas, i.e., contexts. The main part of the text consists of five chapters: the first four are each focused on one of the above-mentioned destinations and presents the main trends in the description of the local mountain landscape mentioned in the analyzed travelogues about the area. In the last chapter, based on the comparison of the findings on the perception of each of the destinations, the main similarities and differences in the description and evaluation of the mountain landscape between these regions - i.e., various frameworks - are presented and explained. Tato diplomová práce se zabývá obrazem hor, horské krajiny a přírody ve vybraných anglických cestopisných pramenech z osmnáctého století, ve kterých jejich autoři líčí své cesty do čtyř různých oblastí - alpského regionu, Skotské vysočiny, irských pohoří a na území Walesu. Tyto destinace jsou v rámci práce chápány jako odlišné kognitivní rámce nebo společenské kontexty pro vnímání stejného či podobného - tedy (vysoko-)horského - typu krajiny. Cílem práce je zjistit, prezentovat a vysvětlit shody a rozdíly v popisu a hodnocení takové krajiny mezi jednotlivými oblastmi, tj. kontexty. Hlavní část textu práce se skládá z pěti kapitol: z prvních čtyř je každá zaměřená na jednu z výše zmíněných destinací a prezentuje hlavní tendence v popisu zdejší horské krajiny uvedeném v analyzovaných cestopisech o dané oblasti. V poslední kapitole jsou poté, na základě porovnání zjištěných poznatků o vnímání jednotlivých destinací mezi sebou, prezentovány a vysvětleny hlavní shody a rozdíly v popisu a hodnocení horské krajiny mezi těmito regiony, tj. odlišnými rámci.
