Proměny české mutace pánského magazínu Playboy od vzniku do současnosti

Abstract

This work examines the thematic composition and functioning of the Czech Playboy edition, which has been published in the Czech Republic since 1991. Since it is a licensed periodical, in addition to the local mutation, the American title has been analysed, which has been undergoing significant changes in recent years, affecting the composition of the magazine content. For better context, a competitive periodical in the form of the monthly magazine Esquire was included into the research. This magazine is available on local market since the 1996 and with magazines like ForMen or ElleMan they are in fact the only competition in the men's magazine market. The aim is to find out how the content of the Czech Playboy mutation has changed over time, namely since its start-up in Czechoslovakia in 1991 till the year 2018. The method of quantitative content analysis was used for this purpose. Its results were further compared with the data obtained from the analysis of the American origin, as well as the domestic mutations of Esquire. Tato práce zkoumá tematickou skladbu a fungování české edice Playboye, který u nás vychází již od roku 1991. Jelikož se jedná o licenční periodikum, byl kromě místní mutace analyzován také americký titul, který si v posledních letech prochází značnými proměnami, jež zasahují i do skladby obsahu časopisu. Pro lepší kontext bylo do výzkumu zařazeno i jedno konkurenční periodikum v podobě měsíčníku Esquire. Ten v Česku vychází od roku 1996 a s časopisy ForMen a ElleMan tvoří defacto jedinou konkurenci Playboyi mezi pánskými magazíny. Cílem bylo zjistit, jak se obsah české mutace Playboye proměňoval v čase, konkrétně od jeho startu v Československu v roce 1991 po rok 2018. K tomu byla využita metoda kvantitativní obsahové analýzy. Její výsledky byly dále porovnávány s daty získanými analýzou americké předlohy, a také tuzemské mutace Esquiru. Teoretické informace autorka čerpala z knižních a digitálních zdrojů. Jelikož však neexistují volně přístupné informace o interním chodu redakce Playboye, opatřila si je díky rozhovorům s osobnostmi, které byly u založení časopisu, nebo s těmi, které titul vedou dnes.
