Vliv kancléře Helmuta Schmidta na formování německé bezpečnostní politiky a jeho důsledky pro strategii NATO v letech 1974 - 1982

Abstract

Diplomová práce "Vliv Helmuta Schmidta na formování německé bezpečnostní politiky a jeho důsledky pro strategii NATO vletech 1974 - 1982" pojednává o významné roli německého kancléře Helmuta Schmidta na německou zahraniční a bezpečnostní politiku v sedmdesátých letech 20. století. První část práce přibližuje politickou kariéru Helmuta Schmidta. Helmut Schmidt prostřednictvím své teorie rovnováhy sil upozornil na potřebu změny strategie Severoatlantické aliance. Práce se zaměřuje především na zkoumání vlivu bezpečnostní politiky Spolkové republiky Německo pod taktovkou kancléře Schmidta a analyzuje důsledky této německé aktivity pro diskuzi o změně strategie Aliance v druhé polovině sedmdesátých let, konkrétně prostřednictvím tzv. "dvojího rozhodnutí NATO" o nutnosti dozbrojení Aliance a zároveň zahájení jednání o odzbrojení mezi Západem a Východem. Poslední část práce je věnována vnitropolitické situaci ve Spolkové republice Německo v souvislosti s německou bezpečnostní politikou prosazovanou kancléřem Schrnidtem.

Diploma thesis "Helmut Schmidt's influence on shaping of German Security Policy and its consequences for NATO's strategy in 1974-1982" discusses the important role of German Chancellor Helmut Schmidt in shaping of the security policy of the Federal Republic of Germany in the 1970s. The first part of the thesis focuses on the Schmidt's political career. Helmut Schmidt pointed out the exigence of the turn of the NATO' strategy through his Balance of Power Theory. Thesis examines especially the influence of German security policy of Chancellor Schmidt and it analyses the consequences of the German activity for the debate about the NATO'strategy in the second half of the 1970s. This part deals particularly with the NATO Double-Track Decision that enacted the need of NATO'armament together with the initiation of the arms control negotiation between the East and the West. The last part examines the internal situation in the Federal Republic of Germany in the context of the German security policy advocating by the Chancelor Helmut Schmidt.
