Tváře běsu: reprezentace války v pamětech vojenských profesionálů z let 1620-1649

Abstract

Tato diplomová práce se hlásí k žánru historické antropologie války a vojenství. Hlavním cílem je interpretativní zkoumání a vzájemná komparace proměnných dobové kultury války, reprezentovaných v denících a pamětech vojenských profesionálů působících ve třicetileté válce. Jedná se o deníky Roberta Monro, Augustina von Fritsche, Petera Hagendorfa a Sydnama Poyntze. Práce vychází z teoreticko-metodologického konceptu symbolické antropologie v tradici Clifforda Geertze a Roberta Darntona. Analýza války na této úrovni umožňuje lépe pochopit a přiblížit charakter třicetileté války z hlediska motivace obyčejných vojáků, jejich vztahu k sobě samým, k civilnímu obyvatelstvu, k jejich veliteli, a také k Bohu.

This master's degree thesis adheres to the genre of historical anthropology of war and warfare. Its main goal is to conduct interpretative research and comparison of variables of war culture, represented in the diaries and memoires of military professionals of the Thirty Years' War namely Robert Monro, Augustin von Fritsch, Peter Hagendorf and Sydnam Poyntz. Theoretical and methodological grounding for this thesis is provided by the symbolic anthropology in legacy of Clifford Geertz and Robert Darnton. Analysis of the war on this level allows for the better understanding of the unique character of the Thirty Years' War from the perspective of the motivation of common soldiers, their relationship among each other, with civilian population, with their commanders and with God too.
