Abstract

Tato diplomová práce mapuje dílo amerického sociologa a futurologa Alvina Tofflera, zařazuje jeho teorie do společensko-vědního i aktuálního sociálního kontextu a na základní rovině porovnává jeho vlnovou teorii dějin s Huntingtonovou koncepcí střetu civilizací. Součástí práce je biografická část orientovaná předevím na Tofflerův profesní ivot, přehled jeho děl a představení některých zásadních tématických okruhů, jimi se ve své tvorbě zabývá. Vysvětluje jeho termíny ok z budoucnosti, pohled na ekonomiku, politiku a moc, vědu a techniku, organizaci, instituci rodiny, vzdělávání, volný čas, média či válku a analyzuje příčiny konce studené války a pádu socialismu, jak je vidí Alvin Toffler. Práce nás dále seznamuje s dílem Střet civilizací Samuela P. Huntingtona, aby posléze upozornila jak na shodné momenty v jejich názorových koncepcích, tak na zásadní odlinosti, předevím v uchopení pojmu civilizace. Ukazuje rozdílné vize budoucnosti obou badatelů a při této příleitosti jsou zde uvedeni i někteří dalí autoři soustřeďující se na obdobná témata, např. Francis Fukuyama. Závěr práce se kriticky zaměřuje na Tofflerovo dílo a poté nabízí celkové zhodnocení jeho významu pro odbornou i laickou veřejnost.

This graduation thesis examines the work of the American sociologist and futurologist Alvin Toffler, classifies his theories in social-scientific and current social context and compares his wave theory of history to Huntingtons conception of the clash of civilizations. The first part of the work deals with Alvin Tofflers biography and it is primarily focused on his professional life, the summary of his pieces and it also introduces some principle issues of his output. It explains his terms future shock, the perspectives on economy, politics and power, science and technology, organizations, institution of the family, education, leisure time, media and war and analyzes the causes of the end of the Cold war and the downfall of socialism, seen by Alvin Toffler. The graduation thesis acquaints us with The Clash of Civilizations written by Samuel P. Huntington with the aim to stress the similar moments in their opinions and on the other hand the divergences, particularly in the term of civilization. It shows the different visions of the future and names the other authors concentrating themselves on the comparable topics, e.g. Francis Fukuyama. The end of the work points out the critique of Tofflers work and supplies general evaluation of his importance for scientists and public as well.
