Péče o pacienty cizince - komunikační výzvy z pohledu pacientů.

Abstract

This bachelor's thesis focuses on the communication challenges perceived by foreign patients. The aim of the thesis was to examine the experiences of foreigners in a specific healthcare facility, identify key communication problems, and propose recommendations for improving the quality of communication with foreign patients. A qualitative research method was chosen for the study. Data necessary for thematic analysis were obtained through semi-structured interviews with six foreigner patients. The results of the study show that patients most frequently used verbal communication, especially the English language and simple verbal expressions, as well as nonverbal communication in the form of gestures. Some respondents also relied on the assistance of family members, a liaison nurse, or technological tools such as Google Translate. The research further revealed that professional interpreters were not used at all, although they could contribute to better mutual understanding and a greater sense of safety for patients in certain situations. Based on the findings, recommendations for practice were established, which may also serve as a basis for the further development of culturally competent care in the hospital environment. Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá komunikačními výzvami, které vnímají pacienti cizinci. Cílem práce bylo zkoumat zkušenosti cizinců v konkrétním zdravotnickém zařízení, identifikovat klíčové komunikační problémy a navrhnout doporučení ke zlepšení kvality komunikace s pacienty cizinci. Pro výzkum byla zvolena kvalitativní výzkumná metoda. Prostřednictvím polostrukturovaných rozhovorů se šesti pacienty cizinci byla získána data potřebná k tematické analýze. Výsledky studie ukazují, že pacienti nejčastěji využívali verbální komunikaci, zejména anglický jazyk a jednoduché slovní výrazy, a dále neverbální komunikaci v podobě gestikulace. Někteří respondenti při komunikaci využívali pomoc rodinných příslušníků, styčné sestry či technologických prostředků, například Google Překladače. Z výsledků výzkumu zároveň vyplynulo, že služby profesionálních tlumočníků nebyly využívány, přestože by mohly v určitých situacích podpořit lepší vzájemné porozumění a zvýšit pocit bezpečí pacientů. Na základě výsledků byla stanovena doporučení pro praxi, která mohou sloužit také jako podklad pro další rozvoj kulturně kompetentní péče v nemocničním prostředí.
