Abstract

This bachelor's thesis focuses on the education of patients with lumbar drainage and the development of educational materials to supplement verbal instruction. The aim of the thesis was to create an informational and educational leaflet for patients with lumbar drainage, which will serve as a supplement to verbal education and provide patients and their loved ones with clear information about the procedure, its purpose, and guidelines for proper care. The theoretical part of the thesis summarizes the anatomy and physiology related to cerebrospinal fluid and subsequently describes lumbar drainage, its indications, procedure, and possible complications, with a separate chapter also focusing on the specifics of nursing care for these patients. The practical part is based on a qualitative study that included direct observation of patient education and semi-structured interviews with nurses and physicians. The results showed that although the basic pillars of patient education were maintained in all observed cases, the specific scope of the explanation, the depth of training in drain handling, and the mention of local anesthesia options varied depending on the individual approach of the healthcare provider and the cognitive abilities of the specific patient. Souhrn Bakalářská práce se zabývá edukací pacientů s lumbální drenáží a tvorbou edukačního materiálu jako podpory ústní edukace. Cílem práce bylo vytvořit informačně-edukační leták pro pacienty s lumbální drenáží, která bude sloužit jako doplněk k ústní edukaci a poskytne pacientům i jejich blízkým přehledné informace o výkonu, jeho účelu a zásadách správného chování. Teoretická část práce shrnuje anatomii a fyziologii související s mozkomíšním mokem a následně popisuje lumbální drenáž, její indikace, průběh a možné komplikace, přičemž samostatná kapitola se také zaměřuje na specifika ošetřovatelské péče o tyto pacienty. Praktická část je založena na kvalitativním šetření, které zahrnovalo přímé pozorování edukace pacientů a polostrukturované rozhovory se sestrami a lékaři. Výsledky ukázaly, že ačkoliv základní pilíře informovanosti zůstaly u všech sledovaných případů zachovány, konkrétní rozsah vysvětlení, hloubka nácviku manipulace s drénem a zmínka o možnostech lokální anestezie se lišily v závislosti na individuálním přístupu zdravotníka a kognitivních schopnostech konkrétního pacienta. Na základě analýzy získaných dat byl vytvořen pilotní edukační leták, který byl následně u pacientů ověřen z hlediska srozumitelnosti.
