Abstract

Title: Analysis of the Success Rate of Evasive Maneuvers in American Football Objectives: The aim of this study was to determine the success rate of evasive maneuvers used by American football players after catching a pass in order to evade an opponent. Methods: Videos from ten games played by Czech teams Prague Lions and Vysočina Gladiators were analyzed to assess the frequency and success of evasive maneuvers following a pass reception. Each video was examined in detail, and all instances in which a player performed an evasive maneuver after catching the ball were recorded. For each recorded maneuver, its success was evaluated - that is, whether the player was able to evade the opponent and gain additional yards. If forward progress was made, the maneuver was classified as successful. It was also noted whether the maneuver was executed without physical contact with the opponent, or whether contact occurred. In cases where the player failed to make further progress, the maneuver was considered unsuccessful. Additionally, it was documented whether the player was merely stopped without a gain in yardage or whether a turnover occurred. Název: Analýza úspěšnosti úhybných manévrů v americkém fotbalu. Cíle: Cílem této práce bylo zjištění, jakou úspěšnost mají úhybné manévry, které hráči amerického fotbalu využívají po zachycení přihrávky k obejití soupeře. Metody: Byla analyzována videa z deseti zápasů českých týmů Prague Lions a Vysočina Gladiators, přičemž cílem bylo vyhodnotit četnost a úspěšnost úhybných manévrů po zachycení přihrávky. Každé video bylo detailně prostudováno a byly zaznamenány všechny případy, kdy hráč po zachycení míče použil úhybný manévr. U každého zaznamenaného manévru byla posuzována jeho úspěšnost - tedy zda hráč dokázal manévrem obejít soupeře a získat další yardy. Pokud došlo k posunu po hřišti, byl manévr hodnocen jako úspěšný. Zároveň se sledovalo, zda byl manévr proveden bez kontaktu se soupeřem, nebo zda k fyzickému kontaktu došlo. V případech, kdy se hráči nepodařilo dosáhnout dalšího postupu, byl manévr považován za neúspěšný. Zvlášť bylo evidováno, zda byl hráč pouze zastaven bez zisku dalších yardů, nebo zda dokonce došlo ke ztrátě míče. Výsledky: Na základě výsledků pozorování můžeme konstatovat, že nejefektivnější úhybným manévrem byl side step. Nejčastěji využívaným manévrem byl cut back.
