Rehabilitative Postsocialism opens with discussing the early post-1989 social imagination of the participatory nature of democratic institution and of civil society. Chapter 1 examines how the moral horizon of the post-socialist transformation redefined the moral scripts of citizenship. Exploring what we might call lessons in (white) civility to the nation, it argues that the optimistic visions of civil society depend upon specific responsibilisations of minority subjects.
