Abstract

This bachelor's thesis examines the current situation in selected areas of the towns of Cheb and Sokolov and their surrounding regions with regard to the availability of social services, continuing education, and potential job opportunities for graduates of special elementary schools after they complete their compulsory education. The aim of the study is to identify the current expectations and future plans of these graduates and their parents and subsequently compare them with the services actually available in the relevant locations. An overview of existing opportunities in the areas of social services, further education, and employment can help caregivers make more informed decisions about next steps while supporting the further development of these young people and improving the quality of life for both, them and their families. The research focuses on the specific situations of selected families, particularly their perspectives on life after their child with an intellectual disability completes compulsory schooling. The research was conducted using qualitative methods of observation and semi- structured interviews with the families of these adolescents.
