Abstract

This bachelor thesis focuses on linking three key concepts of Aristotle's thought - ethics, education and friendship - with his notion of politics and political space (polis). The aim of the thesis is to show how these areas intersect in the Aristotelian system and what role the Greek thinker attributes to them in the attainment of bliss (eudaimonia). The research question is: In what ways does Aristotle link ethics, education and friendship with politics and how necessary is this relationship for the attainment of eudaimonia? The methodology of the thesis is based on a hermeneutical analysis of Aristotle's primary texts, especially the Nicomachean Ethics and the Politics, and is supplemented by relevant secondary literature. Emphasis is placed on the interpretation and analysis of key passages that clearly demonstrate the interconnectedness of the concepts under study with politics. The main finding of the thesis is that for Aristotle it is impossible to understand ethics, education and friendship in isolation from political life, as they are an essential part of the proper establishment and functioning of the polis. Tato bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na propojení tří klíčových pojmů Aristotelova myšlení - etiky, výchovy a přátelství - s jeho pojetím politiky a politického prostoru (polis). Cílem práce je ukázat, jak se tyto oblasti prolínají v aristotelském systému a jakou roli jim řecký myslitel přisuzuje v rámci dosažení blaženosti (eudaimonia). Výzkumná otázka zní: Jakým způsobem Aristoteles propojuje etiku, výchovu a přátelství s politikou a jak nezbytný je tento vztah pro dosažení eudaimonia? Metodologie práce vychází z hermeneutické analýzy primárních Aristotelových textů, především Etiky Nikomachovy a Politiky, přičemž je doplněna o relevantní sekundární literaturu. Důraz je kladen na interpretaci a analýzu klíčových pasáží, které jasně dokládají vzájemnou souvislost zkoumaných pojmů s politikou. Hlavním zjištěním práce je, že pro Aristotela není možné chápat etiku, výchovu a přátelství odděleně od politického života, neboť jsou nezbytnou součástí správného ustanovení a fungování polis.
