Estetika románů Milana Kundery

Abstract

The thesis focuses on Kundera's novel aesthetics, which the author has elaborated in his essays, which he has included in the following books: The Art of the Novel (Gallimard, 1986), Testaments Betrayed (Gallimard, 1993), The Curtain (Gallimard, 2005), Encounter (Gallimard, 2009). Some of these essays have not been translated into Czech and for the purposes of this thesis we had to translate them from the French original, with the support of an English translation. The aim of this thesis is to analyze and interpret the concepts of Kundera's novel aesthetics and to trace their transformations across Kundera's works and their influence on Kundera's novel poetics. The thesis also traces other works of art and authors in whose works Kundera became aware of these aesthetic demands, who inspired him and whom he built upon. It is crucial for us to understand Kundera's notion of the continuity of traditional values as a subscription to the legacy of previous works. Diplomová práce se věnuje Kunderově románové estetice, již autor zpracoval ve svých esejích, jež zařadil do následujících knih: Umění románu (Gallimard, 1986), Zrazené testamenty (Gallimard, 1993), Opona (Gallimard, 2005), Setkání (Gallimard, 2009). Některé z těchto esejů přitom nebyly přeloženy do češtiny a pro účely práce jsme si je museli přeložit z francouzského originálu, s podporou anglického překladu. Cílem práce je analyzovat a interpretovat pojmy Kunderovy románové estetiky a sledovat jejich proměny napříč Kunderovým dílem a jejich vliv na Kunderovu románovou poetiku. Práce zároveň mapuje další umělecká díla a autory, v jejichž dílech si Kundera tyto estetické požadavky uvědomil, jimiž se inspiroval a na něž navazoval. Klíčové pro nás přitom je chápat Kunderovo pojetí kontinuity tradičních hodnot jako přihlášení se k odkazu předchozí tvorby.
