Obraz posledních desetiletí Konstantinopole a jejích vztahů s Osmany ve vybraných dílech světové moderní literatury 20. a 21. století

Abstract

This bachelor's thesis focuses on the analysis and comparison of two historical novels and one historical novel with elements of science fiction. These works describe events in Constantinople during the decades before the year 1453, as well as the city's eventual conquest by the Ottoman Empire. The thesis begins by defining the concepts of <historical novel= and <science fiction,= and proceeds with an overview of the lives and literary contributions of the three selected authors. In the next section, I address the historical context of Constantinople before and during the year 1453, followed by an analysis of selected historical and fictional characters from the novels, with attention to their interconnections. The final part of the thesis offers detailed plot summaries of the three chosen novels and analyzes them from various perspectives, such as historical, literary, and religious. The portrayal of historical events in fiction is then compared to academic literature relating to the historical period. In conclusion, these three novels will be compared with one another in terms of their portrayal of Constantinople, historical accuracy and literary quality.

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá analýzou a vzájemnou komparací dvou historických románů a jednoho historického románu s prvky science-fiction, které popisují události v Konstantinopoli několik desetiletí před rokem 1453 a samotné ovládnutí Cařihradu Osmanskou říší. Nejdříve vymezuji pojmy "historický román" a "science fiction", dále se soustřeďuji na popis života a díla všech tří spisovatelů. V další části své studie se budu věnovat historickému kontextu v Konstantinopoli před a během roku 1453 a následně se soustředím na popis vybraných historických a fiktivních postav z knih, které se mezi sebou prolínají. V poslední části budu popisovat děje tří zvolených románů a budu je analyzovat z určitých hledisek, např. z historického, literárního, náboženského apod. Historickou fikci budu porovnávat s odbornou literaturou, která se k danému období vztahuje. Na závěr všechny tři romány mezi sebou porovnám z hlediska jejich obrazu Konstantinopole, historické věrnosti a literární kvality.
