Health literacy, education, prevention, HIV, AIDS, sexually transmitted infectionsThis thesis focuses on the issue of health literacy in the context of HIV and its improvement through educational approaches within the field of andragogy. The theoretical part defines the concept of health literacy, with emphasis on the specifics related to HIV. Individual chapters include a description of the basic differences between HIV and AIDS, as well as modes of transmission and prevention strategies. Current trends and options in treatment and other aspects of the selected topic are also discussed. The subsequent chapters introduce various forms of educational interventions and organizations that are involved in awareness-raising and treatment efforts. Special attention is paid to the issue of stigmatization of people living with HIV, which remains one of the main barriers to effective prevention and care. The thesis also provides an overview of current treatment options for HIV and emphasizes the importance of testing for sexually transmitted infections. The practical part of the thesis presents a quantitative empirical survey conducted through a questionnaire distributed among medical students in the Czech Republic.
