Souvislost mezi stylem vztahové vazby v dospělosti a procesem kulturní adaptace u vysokoškolských studentů žijících v zahraničí​

Abstract

This study focuses on college international student who encounter variety of challenges in their process of cultural adaptation in the host country. It examines the attachment style in adulthood as an important factor predicting the course of acculturation. This study operates with four attachment styles (Secure, Preoccupied Anxious, Dismissive Avoidant, Fearful Avoidant) and four orientations during acculturation (to the host culture, to the home culture, to other international students, to neither). It was hypothesized that the secure attachment style will corelate with the orientation to the host and to the home culture, the preoccupied anxious style with the orientation to the home culture and to other international students and the avoidant styles with the orientation to neither. 107 college international students participated in the research and completed online questionnaire consisting of demographic questions along with a section of the Relationship Scale Questionnaire and modified version of the Acculturation, Habits, and Interests Multicultural Scale. The results showed that longer time spent abroad was related to host culture orientation, but secure attachment style was not. Tato práce se zaměřuje na zahraniční studenty vysokých škol, kteří se v procesu kulturní adaptace v hostitelské zemi potýkají s různými výzvami. Zkoumá styl vazby u dospělých jako důležitý faktor predikující průběh akulturace. Tato studie pracuje se čtyřmi styly vazby (Bezpečný, Zaujatý úzkostný, Odmítavý vyhýbavý, Strachuplný vyhýbavý) a se čtyřmi orientacemi během akulturace (na hostitelskou kulturu, na domovskou kulturu, na ostatní mezinárodní studenty, na žádnou z těchto možností - neorientace). Předpoklad byl, že styl bezpečné vazby bude korelovat s orientací na hostitelskou a domovskou kulturu, zaujatý úzkostný s orientací na domovskou kulturu a na jiné mezinárodní studenty a vyhýbavé styly s neorientací. Výzkumu se zúčastnilo 107 zahraničních vysokoškolských studentů, kteří vyplnili online dotazník skládající se z demografických otázek spolu s částí Relationship Scale Questionnaire a upravenou verzí Acculturation, Habits, and Interests Multicultural Scale. Výsledky ukázaly, že s orientací na hostitelskou kulturu souvisela delší doba strávená v zahraničí, bezpečný styl vazby však nikoli. Bezpečný a odmítavý vyhýbavý typ připoutání negativně souvisely s orientací na domovskou kulturu.
