2018The paper presents the results of a geomorphological research into the river terrace system and an evolution of the Eger (Ohře) valley in the western part of the Bohemian Massif. The Eger River terraces originated in complex and variable morphotectonic and climate-morphogenetic conditions that existed during the late Cenozoic evolution of the valley. A morphostratigraphical system of Pliocene fluvial sediments and seven levels of the accumulation river terraces of the Quaternary period were determined (Fig. 2). A correlation of terrace flights in the longitudinal profile of the Eger River with the current stratigraphic classification of the Quaternary (Tab. 1) enabled to specify the range and main phases of the Quaternary tectonic processes in the region. The Quaternary tectonics in the Smrčiny Mountains may only be proven by upliCed relics of the first terrace, namely about 10 m in comparison with its level in the Chebská pánev Basin. In the Chlumský práh Horst area, the oldest (first and second) Pleistocene terraces, which originated during the Tiglian stage, were upliCed by approximately 15 m. The third terrace, which is younger than 1.78 Myr, is at this crystalline horst upliCed by about 2-4 m.
