Sezónny priebeh fenologických fáz bukových porastov vo vzťahu k indexu listovej plochy (LAI) a normalizovanému vegetačnému indexu (NDVI) =The seasonality of the phenological stages of beech stands in relation to the Leaf Area Index (LAI) and the Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI)

Abstract

V práci sme sa zamerali na sezónne štrukturálne zmeny v korunách bukových porastov. Tieto zmeny sme sledovali tromi rôznymi spôsobmi: vizuálnymi fenologickými pozorovaniami, indexom listovej plochy (LAI) z hemisférických fotografií a satelitne odvodeným normalizovaným vegetačným indexom (NDVI). Objektom našich pozorovaní počas vegetačného obdobia 2011 bolo päť stanovíšť s dospelým bukovým porastom nachádzajúcich sa na lokalitách Turová a Bukovina. Zistili sme, že fenologické fázy sú nasledované oboma indexmi - LAI a NDVI. V čase od úplného zalistenia po konečné zalistenie bol zaznamenaný mierny nárast hodnôt u oboch indexov. V období po konečnom zalistení, už počas letných mesiacov júl a august nastal mierny pokles LAI aj NDVI. Tento môže byť vysvetlený degradáciou chlorofylu. Prirodzené starnutie listov sprevádzané žltnutím a opadom listov bolo rovnako nasledované zmenami hodnôt LAI a NDVI. Medzi hodnotami LAI a NDVI sme zistili tesnú korelačnú závislosť s koeficientom determinácie R2=0,85.

Seasonal structural changes of beech forest canopies are the topic of plant phenology. In this study, these changes were observed in three ways using: in situ phenological observations, leaf area index (LAI) derived from hemispherical photography, and normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) derived from satellite data MODIS. Five mature beech stands located in Kremnica Mountines were observed during vegetation period 2011. Phenological phases were followed by both indices - LAI and NDVI: 1. During the period of leaf development from the phenophase full leaf unfolding to final leaf unfolding both indices slightly increased. 2. After final leaf unfolding, LAI and NDVI slightly decreased. This situation is explainable with chlorophyll degradation occurring in beech stands already during summer. 3. During phenophases leaf coloring and leaf fall accompanied by natural leaf senescence, greater decrease of LAI and NDVI was recorded. Between LAI and NDVI was found out very strong linear relationship (R2 = 0,85). However both indirect methods showed very good agreement with in situ observed phenological phases, for further large scale phenological analyses satellite based method will be preferred.
