The paper studies the natural environment of the region of Teplice, North Bohemia. It deals with the physico-geographical evaluation of the landscape In North Bohemia with regard to the modelling processes of the southern slopes of the Krušné hory (Ore Mountains). In the introductory part of the paper, the author pays attention to the direct relation and the consequences of economic activities, especially mining and industry. In the second part, the paper treats of the laws and organization of the natural environment and the consequences resulting from the weakened balance of the landscape. In the last part, the paper deals with a concrete evaluation of the present natural processes affecting the southern slopes of the Krušné hory, and with their long-lasting consequences on the natural environment not only iii the Krušné hory, but also in the vaster hinterland, namely in the North Bohemian lignite basin
