Příspěvek k poznání vzniku říčních teras =On the origin of river terraces
River terraces originate in the course of the retrogressive water erosion that segregates gravel accumulations on the valley bottom from the stream. At the same time the stream descends to a lower level. In the upstream direction gravel accumulations of terraces are progressively younger. River terraces, however, are defined as bodies composed of deposits of an identical age. There are terraces in a "stratigraphical" sense and terraces in a "hydrological" sense. They have not been sufficiently differentiated up to now. That is why both these terms are introduced here by the author for the first time
