The paper is concerned with new challenges of EU energy policies and with attitudes of citizens towards energy consumption. The EU energy policy-making recognises the importance of sustainable energy consumption habits of citizens and is also concerned with their opinion on energy politics. The analysis in this paper indicates that in view of the current public opinion the development of energy policies at the EU level is seemingly also beset by considerable uncertainties and risks of insufficient electoral support
