PhDr. Jiří Musil, Ph.D. Abstrakt: Táto diplomová práca pojednáva o vývoji rímskych pancierov. Snaží sa pokryť ich vývoj od najstarších čias, od založenia Ríma, až po obdobie dominátu. Opiera sa v prvom rade o ikonografické vyobrazenia a archeologické nálezy, druhotne si vypomáha prameňmi literárnymi. Pokrýva pôvod pancierov, ich kompletnú charakteristiku, výrobu, jednotlivé vývojové odlišnosti a samotný rozbor vývoja demonštrovaný na konkrétnych príkladoch. Práca približuje i doplnky ochrannej zbroje v podobe spodného odevu, aprona a obsahuje tiež zmienku o organických typoch pancierov. Title: The evolution of the breastplate armour in the Roman Empire based on archaeological and iconographical sources Author: Eliška Jánošová Department: Institute for Classical Archaeology, Charles University of Prague Supervisor: Doc. PhDr. Jiří Musil, Ph.D. Abstract: This thesis concerns the development of roman breastplate armour. The aim hereof is due to cover their evolution from the earliest times, from the foundation of Rome, until the period of the roman Dominate. It is primarily based on iconographic depictions and archaeological finds. It addresses the origins of breastplates, their complete characteristics, manufacture, particular differences in development and the analysis of their evolution, as demonstrated by specific examples. This thesis also concerns the minor protective features, such as undergarment, apron and a mention of cuirasses type of an organic nature.
