Cílem této práce je analýza zahraniční politiky Aznarových vlád (1996 - 2000 a 2000 - 2004) vůči tradičním regionům španělské diplomacie - Evropa, Spojené státy, Středomoří, respektive státy severní Afriky a Latinská Amerika. Tématem práce není poskytnout vyčerpávající přehled vztahů a politik prováděných vůči těmto regionům, nýbrž vystopování základních principů, na jejichž základě si lze vytvořit ucelenou představu o stylu a prioritách Aznarovy zahraniční politiky.
