Jungmannův překlad Ztraceného ráje

Abstract

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá p ekladem Ztraceného ráje, který v letech 1800 a 1804 po ídil Josef Jungmann. Východiskem je d kladné prozkoumání kulturní situace, ve které p eklad vznikl, v etn toho, zda se do ní p eklad za le uje nebo z ní vybo uje. Práce se dále zabývá Jungmannovým vztahem k p eklad m, p edstaví jeho p ekladatelský program a pokusí se nastínit d vody, které eského jazykov dce vedly práv k p elo ení Miltonova eposu. Také pojmenuje cíle, kterých Jungmann p ekladem cht l dosáhnout, a zda se mu to poda ilo. Práce dále popí e recepci p ekladu v eské literatu e a jeho význam pro pozd j í literární vývoj. Hlavní ást této diplomové práce se zam í na detailní porovnání originálu a p ekladu a pomocí p ekladatelské analýzy zjistí, jakými metodami Jungmann p ekládal Ztracený ráj po prozodické, stylistické a p edev ím lexikální stránce. Také prozkoumá domn nky jungmannovských badatel , e Jungmann Ztracený ráj p ekládal nep ímo, p es jiné jazyky.

This thesis examines Josef Jungmann s translation of Milton s Paradise Lost. Josef Jungmann was one of the leading figures of the Czech National Revival and translated Milton's poem between the years 1800 and 1804. The thesis thoroughly describes the Czech cultural situation at the beginning of the 19th century, covers Jungmann s theoretical model of translation and presents Jungmann s motives for translation of Milton s epic poem. The paper also describes the aims Jungmann had with his translation and whether he has achieved them. Also described is the reception Jungmann s translation received after it was published and its significance for the Czech literature. Primarily, this thesis focuses on detailed translation analysis of how Jungmann s translation compares prosodically, lexically and stylistically to the original. It also explores assumptions of some scholars who claimed that Jungmann s translation was indirect.
