Důraz je kladen na komplexní popis jednotlivých uměleckých děl, zejména maleb Karla Špillara a soch Ladislava Šalouna ve Smetanově síni a jejich pozice v celoživotním díle autorů, kteří je vytvořili. Významnou částí jsou úvodní kapitoly, které ozřejmují průběh formování představy o výsledné podobě Smetanovy síně a potažmo i Obecního domu. Následné kapitoly srovnávají Smetanovu síň s dalšími koncertními prostory, reflektují dobové ohlasy na uměleckou výzdobu sálu a hodnotí sál v celé jeho stoleté historii.
This thesis deals with the decoration of Smetana Hall in the Municipal House of Prague, which was built between 1905-1912. The emphasis is based on a complex description of each art work, mailny paintings of Karel Špillar and sculptures of Ladislav Šaloun, which are situated in Smetana Hall; and on position of these art works within the heritage of each artist. First chapters describe the formation of the ideas for the final image of Smetana Hall and in general also of Municipal House. The last part of this text is then devoted to a comparison with other concert halls, reflects contemporary critics on art decoration of the Hall, and also judges the Hall in its century long history.
