Předložená práce zkoumá hudební život v Praze na sklonku 18. století na příkladu pobytů W. A. Mozarta a L. van Beethovena. Vychází z dobových pramenů, zejména z pražského tisku a z korespondence. Všímá si všech aspektů hudebního života - školství, duchovní hudby, různých koncertů, zábav, divadelních představení apod. Specifickou pozornost pak věnuje účasti pražských elit na tomto kulturním životě, zejména pak fenoménu šlechtického mecenátu. Pobyty W. A. Mozarta a L. van Beethovena v Praze slouží jako typický příklad uměleckých koncertních cest, které hudebníci podnikali za získáním užitečných kontaktů a finančního zajištění. Z dobového tisku usuzujeme na vkus pražského publika - z četnosti a charakteru zpráv vyčteme mnoho o důležitosti těchto návštěv. Zatímco o pobytu W. A. Mozarta jsme dobře informováni z novin i z korespondence a pamětí současníků, o návštěvách L. van Beethovena máme pouze kusé zprávy. To svědčí o významu W. A. Mozarta a L. van Beethovena pro dobové hudební vnímání, ale také o změně společensko-kulturní situace v Čechách. Ta nastala vlivem Velké francouzské revoluce a napoleonských válek. Doba nepřeje zábavě a pražské noviny jsou plné zpráv z válečného pole.
The theme of this thesis is the musical life in Prague at the end of the 18th century on the example of stay of W. A. Mozart and L. van Beethoven. It comes out from Prague contemporary press and correspondence. It includes all aspects of musical life - education, church music, various concerts, festivities, theatre performances etc. Special attention is giving participation of prague elite at this cultural life, especially phenomenon of prague nobility patronage. Stays of W. A. Mozart and L. van Beethoven in Prague are the typical example of artistic concert tours, that the musicians undertook for profit and connections. In Prague press we can see taste of Prague audience - we learn a lot about importace of this stays from frequency and character of news. While we are very well informed about W. A. Mozart's stays from newspapers and correspondence and memoirs of contemporaries, we have only fragmentary informations about L. van Beethoven's visits here. It is proof of importance of W. A. Mozart and L. van Beethoven for contemporary musical reception, but also of social-cultural changes in Czech lands. They have become as consequence of the French Revolution and Napoleonic Wars. Period is not friendly to entertainment and Prague newspapers are full war news.
