our thesis deals with literary nexus of two considerable writers of 20 th century' Franz Kafka and Albert č"'u", "*i.tentialism, absurdity in the art and philosophy' The subject of our research were the fictions ,,The Trial" (1925) by Kafka and "The Strangeť' (1942) by Camus, concretely the protagonists of both writings, antiheroes Joseph K. and Meursault. Our effort was to approach the common characteristics of their social status and identity as well as common motives which are e.g. hope, absurdity, sentence of death' solitude, singularity, crisis oíauthority, passivity, intense feelings of guilt and self-accusation' The protagonistsliveintheabsurdworldofdehumanizationinwhichthevaluesarepervertedandmeaningful communication appears impossible'
