The diploma thesis contributes to the field of cognitive linguistics. It focuses on the concept of the Moon and Sun in the Czech language. The thesis examines the process of conceptualization of both terms in the Czech language and in the minds of its speakers. Having analyzed Czech phraseological units, we described and compared both concepts. The thesis is based on the cognitive approach to the language; it draws on cognitive semantics, the cognitive concept of metaphor, the theory of conceptual schemes and the concept of linguistic image of the world.
