Fyzická geografie v SSSR 1917-1987 =Physical Geography in the USSR

Abstract

In his paper the author analyses the development of the Soviet Physical Geography in the last 70 years. The evolution of this science in the USSR has always been influenced by the needs of the society and by the internal logic of scientific progress. In the development of the physical geography In the USSR six phases are distinguished. During these phases the aim and methods of the physico-geographical research have changed substantially. The present Soviet Physical Geography is defined as the study of the general laws governing the composition, structure, behaviour, development and territorial differentiation of the physico-geographical sphere
