At the present time the process of concentration of population takes place in certain regions in Czechoslovakia. Its extent may be viewed from different points, one of which is the accessibility of individual district population census. The paper treats of the problem of accessibility of these centres by public mass transport means. The changes in the number of inhabitants in the individual zones of accessibility may be caused by the following two factors: by the growth of the number of inhabitants by natural increase and by migration; or, by the enlargement of the zone due to the acceleration of transport and the introduction of further lines connecting places having no connection by public transport in the past. In the course of the above-mentioned sixty years, the concentration of population increased in all there districts in the zones within 15- and 30-minute accessibility more than two times. The extreme increase in the population concentration in the last period indicates social-geographic changes in the districts under study. As a result of the study it may be said that the most important factor for the growth of population in all zones is the public transport
