Pro lepší pochopení problematiky nejprve nastíním historické okolnosti. Následně se detailně zaměřím na oba romány. Po krátkém představení autora a díla se u každého z nich zabývám různými aspekty textu, například literárními postavami a jejich inspiračními zdroji, konkrétními motivy vykořisťování člověka a přírody nebo způsoby, kterými autoři činili výpověď věrohodnější. V závěru poznatky získané z obou děl porovnám a zjistím, v čem se literární zpracování dané problematiky liší a shoduje.
The aim of this thesis is to analyse the theme of the rubber boom in the novels The Vortex by José Eustasio River and The Dream of the Celt by Mario Vargas Llosa. To give the reader an insight into the issue, I will briefly describe historical context. Subsequently, I will focus on the novels. After a short introduction of the author and the novel itself, I will analyse many different aspects of the text, such as novelistic characters and possible sources of inspiration, motif of exploitation of man and nature or examples of how authors achieved greater authenticity. Finally, I will compare those findings and I will draw conclusion regarding how the novels differ and how they are similar.
