Svobodná vůle v románech Josého Saramaga

Abstract

This work deals with the motive of free will in novels of Portuguese author from 20th century José Saramago, specifically in novels The Elephant's journey, Cain, and Baltasar and Blimunda. The objective of this paper is to find and analyze different forms of free will in texts and its relation with social problems. The main philosophical basis for this paper is the book Freedom evolves from American deterministic philosopher Daniel C. Dennett, which deals with the relation between free will, society and responsibility. This paper also concerns about the postmodern characters of Saramago's work, especially about the specific attitude to history. The main clue was the study from Lubomír Doležel History in the time of postmodernism.

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá motivem svobodné vůle v románech portugalského spisovatele 20. století Josého Saramaga, konkrétně v Putování jednoho slona, Kain a Baltasar a Blimunda. Cílem práce je najít a analyzovat různé podoby svobodné vůle v příslušných textech, a jejich vztah ke společenským problémům. Hlavním filosofickým podkladem pro rozbor je kniha Freedom evolves od amerického deterministického filosofa Daniela C. Dennetta, která řeší vztah mezi společností a svobodnou vůlí a odpovědností jedinců. Dále se práce ve zmíněných románech zabývá postmoderními znaky Saramagovy tvorby, především specifickým přístupem k historii. Vodítkem zde byla především studie Lubomíra Doležela Historie v období postmoderny.
