Maja, Porcie a Hester - hrdinky trilogie Mariny Carr - jejich irská identita na pozadí antických tragédií

Abstract

Cílem bakalářské práce je charakteristika hlavních představitelek trilogie současné irské dramatičky Mariny Carr - Hester z hry U Kočičí bažiny, Maji a Porcie Coughlanové ze stejnojmenných dramat. Vyprofilovala jsem je na základě jejich genderové i národnostní identity a zasadila je do vztahu k představitelkám z řeckých antických tragédií. V potaz bylo bráno prostředí, z nichž hrdinky pochází stejně jako role mýtu a folkloru. V neposlední řadě jsem poukázala na místo Mariny Carr v kontextu moderního irského dramatu a vystihla poetiku její dramatické tvorby.

The aim of this bachelor thesis is the characterization of three female protagonists appearing in the work of the contemporary Irish playwright Marina Carr. Through in-depth analyzation of heroines Hester (By the Bog of Cats), May (The Mai) and Portia Coughlan. I revealed their symbolic relationship, which is analogous to protagonists characteristic for tragedies of the antic Greece. Moreover, this thesis also investigated, how gender and national identity is reflected on the actions of heroines. Last but not least I explained the importance of Marina Carr in the broad context of the modern Irish drama, while presenting the essence of her creative work.
