Der Aphorismus als Konstellation. Nietzsche und die Frage des Stils

Abstract

The question of style is not only relevant for the study of literature, it also forms a philosophical problem. The style is namely both the form and the mode of thought that configures itself as form. The highest expression of the tension between thought and writing is for Nietzsche the aphorism, which, although it presents itself as an expression of fragmentary thinking, at the same time lets us intuit the possibility of a unitary form, a constellation of aphorisms. This ambivalence between fragmentation and necessity of form has often lead to a 'romantic' interpretation of the aphorism, according to which the romantic fragment is understood as the desire for a new system. This thesis, however, is the attempt to interpret the aphorism not as the expression of the dualism between fragment and system, but rather as a space of experimentation, in which the fragmentary and systematic modes of thought merge as two aspects of the same process of knowledge. Zusammenfassung Die Frage des Stils betrifft nicht nur den literarischen Bereich, sondern ist auch ein philosophisches Problem. Der Stil ist nämlich ebenso die Form wie der Modus des Denkens, welches sich als Form konfiguriert. Der höchste Ausdruck dieser Spannung zwischen Denken und Schreiben ist bei Nietzsche der Aphorismus, der sich als Ausdruck eines fragmentarischen Denkens darstellt, welcher aber gleichzeitig die Möglichkeit einer einheitlichen Form erahnen lässt, eine Konstellation der Aphorismen. Diese Ambivalenz zwischen Fragmentierung und Notwendigkeit der Form hat häufig zu einer "romantischen" Interpretation des Aphorismus geführt, der wie das romantische Fragment nach einem neuen System strebt. Diese Arbeit dagegen ist der Versuch, den Aphorismus nicht als Ausdruck eines Dualismus zwischen Fragment und System darzustellen, sondern eher als experimenteller Raum, indem das fragmentarische und das systematische Denken sich als Aspekte desselben Erkenntnisprozesses miteinander verbinden.
