Agrese v zařízeních ústavní péče pro osoby s mentálním postižením

Abstract

Tle topic of aggression in institutions for the people with intellectual disability is traditionally perceived as an exclusive problem of people with disability. The study aims to emphasize that more complex perspective on this problem is needed. Such perspective should include not only dispositions of people with intellectual disability but also characteristics of institutions and of professionals providing care. Theoretical overview summerizes hypothetic sources of aggressive behavior of clients and professionals. The research focuses on the professional's attribution of aggressive behavior. Results show that professionals are most likely to make the fundamental attribution error in their appraisal of the aggressive behavior. The study points out certain direction for following work on the improving quality of the care offered in institutions for people with intellectual disability.

Problematika agresivity v zařízeních ústavního typu, které pečují o osoby s mentálním postižením, bývá tradičně nahlížena jako výhradní problém osob s mentálním postižením. V této práci se snažím ukázat, že k problematice agresivity v domovech pro osoby s intelektovým postižením je potřebné přistupovat s celkovou perspektivou, která zahrnuje nejen dispozice osob s postižením v určitých situacích jednat násilně, ale také to, do jaké míry prostředí instituce a zejména pak samotní zaměstnanci (přímo nebo nepřímo) přispívají k agresivnímu jednání klientů. Teoretický přehled charakterizuje hypotetické zdroje agresivního jednání klientů a zaměstnanců, které spoluutváří kulturu a atmosféru domovů. Vlastní výzkum zjišťuje, jakým způsobem zaměstnanci dvou domovů uvažují o příčinách agresivního jednání klientů - tedy jaké předpoklady určují repertoár, který ve zvládání problematického agresivního jednání klientů mohou zaměstnanci využívat. Výsledky mj. ukazují tendenci zaměstnanců dopouštět se v atribuci agresivního jednání základní atribuční chyby. Studie tak nabízí určitou výzvu a směr pro další práci v dané oblasti praxe.
