Formovanie a vývoj miest v rímskej Británii v 2. a 3.storočí

Abstract

Táto práca sa zaoberá rímskymi civilnými sídliskami, ktoré začali vznikať v provincii Britannia po jej založení, v polovici prvého storočia. V úvode popisuje charakteristické znaky týchto sídlisk a ich funkcie. Prvá kapitola podáva prehľad jednotlivých typov miest a ich administratívnych zriadení. V ďalších kapitolách sa práca zameriava na mestské opevnenia, súkromné i verejné stavby a zariadenia, vrátane kultových stavieb, ktoré boli súčasťou miest. Popisuje ich typy, konštrukcie a ich vývoj vo všeobecnosti a tiež jednotlivé príklady týchto stavieb na najdôležitejších lokalitách.

This work deals with the Roman civilian settlements which began to emerge in the province of Britannia following its establishment in mid-first century. In the introduction the work describes the characteristic features of these settlements and their functions. The first chapter gives an overview of the different types of towns and their administrative establishment. In following chapters, the work deals with the town defences, private and public buildings and amenities, including religious buildings which were part of the towns. The work describes their type, design and development in general and also examples of these structures in most important locations.
