Javier Marías y Juan José Millás: Comparación de Todas las almas y El desorden de tu nombre

Abstract

V bakalářské práci jsem se zabývala porovnáním již zmíněných děl dvou současných španělských autorů, Javiera Maríase a Juana Josého Milláse. V první řadě jsem se pokusila o krátký nástin španělské novely 20. století, vybrala jsem několik význačných autorů, kteří podle mého soudu nejvíce ovlivnili současnou španělskou prózu. Následoval stručný přehled autorů/současníků, kteří spadají do příslušné generace Javiera Maríase a J. J. Milláse. Věnovala jsem rovněž několik kapitol teoretickému vysvětlení pojmů Postmodernismus a Imoralismus, které jsou zásadní pro analýzu obou děl. Obě analyzovaná díla jsem se pokusila porovanat, přičemž jsem se zaměřila na již zmíněnou, imorálnost, postavy a jazyk. Došla jsem k závěru, že díla mají řadu styčných bodů, především podobnost postav. Vždy se jedná o muže ve středních letech, který je dobře finančně i společensky situován, avšak není se svým životem spokojen. I přes respekt ostatních postav, se cítí prázdný a jeho existence nemá smysl. Ze svého všedního života se snaží vymanit pomocí imorálního chování, jež mu umožňuje nacházet nové milenky a zpestřit mu tak život. Hlavní hrdinové nedělají nic pro změnu, nebojují proti společnosti, vlastně se nepokoušejí o nic, co by je stálo úsilí. Ať už hovoříme o Juliovi, El desorden de tu nombre, nebo o bezejmeném "Španělovi", Todas...

The main objective of my thesis was to analyze the two works mentioned above. I tried to perform the analysis of both novels and discover the possible relations and similitudes. What unites them and where are the differences? The first chapter is dedicated to an overview of the Spanish novel of the 20th century and covers the milestones that marked the history of the contemporary Spanish novel since the Generation of '98, Camilo José Cela, Juan Goytisolo, ending with the generation coming after 1975. The next chapter focuses on the Generation of Javier Marías and José Millás and writers who have published after 1975. I also dedicated some pages to the theory of literature and the literary terms I employ in the course of the thesis. It is an attempt to theoretically explain the terms Postmodernism and Immorality and the reason why they are used in the thesis. In the third chapter, I carried out a comparison of the lives of J. Marías and J.J. Millás in order to discover what they have in common and in what ways they are different. Then, I continued with the analysis of their works where I took into account their language and fictional characters as much as the historic context of their novels.
