Problematika ideálu pospolitosti v moderních společnostech

Abstract

of doctoral thesis This thesis deals with the problem of community conceived as an important ideal in modern societies. Its departing point in understanding modernity is the concept of social imaginaries as developed by Charles Taylor. The interpretation of this concept shows, that community is always only an alternative model of social relations. Despite this situation, it is an always recurrent ideal. The question is, why it is so and in which forms it manifests itself. The first question is answered with the help of the theory of recognition of Axel Honneth, which analyzes moral development of the subject in connection with communal relations. Identity is always anchored in the experience of recognition, and this experience needs to be confirmed in human relationships. Community, then, is the place of such confirmation. The thesis then proceeds to the reconstruction of various shapes of the ideal of community. In the reconstruction of these two most important forms of community, the thesis relies on the work of communitarian theorists and of Benedict Anderson. disertační práce Tato práce se zabývá zkoumáním pospolitosti jako významného ideálu v rámci moderních společností. Východiskem pro uchopení modernity je zde koncepce představ společnosti (social imaginaries) rozpracovaná Charlesem Taylorem. Ta je interpretována tak, že pospolitost se ukazuje vždy jako pouze alternativní model uspořádání. Přesto se tento motiv stále vrací, a otázkou je, proč a v jaké podobě. Na první otázku hledám odpověď v teorii uznání Axela Honnetha, která ukazuje morální genezi subjektu v souvislostech pospolitých vztahů. Identita je tedy vždy ukotvena ve zkušenosti uznání, a tato zkušenost si vyžaduje stálé potvrzení. Místem, ve kterém může tato potřeba dojít naplnění, je právě pospolitost. Další části se zabývají rekonstrukcí různých podob pospolitosti jako ideálu. Zdrojem pro tuto rekonstrukci jsou zejména komunitaristické teorie a práce Benedicta Andersona. Nejprve se jedná o malá, převážně místní společenství vznikající ze svobodné vůle jejich členů za různými účely. Další podobou jsou naproti tomu společenství existující v představách svých členů, jako jsou zejména národy. Práce se zabývá odlišnostmi ve struktuře těchto fenoménů a v jejich odlišné roli ve veřejném životě moderních společností.
