Význam a percepce lokálního kina na malém městě

Abstract

Tato diplomová práce je etnografickou studií lokálního kina na malém městě (v Řevnicích u Prahy). Práce se zabývá společenskými a kulturními, resp. symbolickými významy tohoto kina s ohledem na širší socio-kulturní kontext. Jelikož kino coby místo je konstituováno sociální praxí chození do kina, je tato práce "zhuštěným popisem" divácké žité zkušenosti v prostoru kina. Autor práce tak vychází jednak z Geertzova interpretativního přístupu, a jednak z východisek fenomenologicky orientovaných autorů (např. Patočka, Berger, Luckmann, Tuan). Jak ukazuje, existuje dnes silná významová polarita mezi malými kiny a multikiny. Malé kino je vnímáno jako protipól "popcornové kultury" multikin a to v rovině estetiky, morálky, etiky atd. V případě řevnického kina navíc hraje důležitou roli jeho výrazný lokální charakter. Ten nejen odlišuje místní kino od multiplexů, ale také napomáhá utvářet lokální identitu města a jeho obyvatel. V práci je rovněž poukázáno na rozdíly ve vnímání kin mezi staršími a mladšími lidmi, které jsou dány jejich odlišnou předcházející zkušeností. K postižení širšího kulturního kontextu pak autor využívá zejména práce jiných badatelů (Lubaszewska, Hanzlík, Čada), s jejichž pomocí ilustruje, jaké obrazy kina konstruují média a umění.

This diploma thesis is an ethnographic study of a local small-town cinema in Řevnice near Prague. It analyzes social, cultural - or symbolic - meanings of this cinema with respect to a wider social and cultural context. Because the cinema, as a place, is constituted by the social practice of "cinema-going", this thesis is a "thick description" of spectators' lived experience in that space. The author of this thesis employs the interpretative approach of Geertz as well as the approaches of phenomenologicaly oriented thinkers of Patočka, Berger, Luckmann and Tuan. The author's research reveals that in current times, there is a strong symbolic polarity between small cinemas and multiplexes. Small cinemas are seen to be in opposition to the "popcorn culture" of the multiplexes on the levels of aesthetics, morals, ethics etc. In the case of the cinema in Řevnice, the local character of the facility is very important too. It not only distinguishes this cinema from multilpexes, but it also helps form local identity incorporated by the town and its inhabitants.
