Role římskokatolické církve při přechodu k demokracii v Polsku a v Chile

Abstract

(anglicky) The thesis will be addressed by comparing the states which have undergone a transition to democracy and at the same time you can observe the strong influence of the Roman Catholic Church. Specifically, it will be about Poland and about Chile. In the beginning, I tried to capture the position of the Church in these states for the duration of the undemocratic regime (if it stood on the side of the regime, covert opposition, or whether they acted directly against the regime). I will try to describe what influenced this attitude - the injustices of the regime, historical context. Another part will look at what the relationship with the Church undemocratic regimes sought. Whether enforce repression, cooptation, or some form of "tacit agreement". In response to previous questions in the conclusion I will try answer whether the Roman Catholic Church was open to cooperation and advocated more confrontational stance, and how did this attitude affect the form, course and outcome of transition in these countries.

(česky) Práce se bude zabývat srovnáním států, které si prošly přechodem k demokracii a zároveň zde můžeme sledovat silný vliv Římskokatolické církve. Konkrétně se bude jednat o Polsko a o Chile. V úvodu bych se snažil postihnout postavení církve v rámci těchto států za trvání nedemokratického režimu (jestli stála na straně režimu, skryté opozice, nebo zda vystupovala přímo vůči režimu). Snažil bych se postihnout to, co ovlivnilo tento postoj - křivdy ze strany režimu, historický kontext. Další část se bude zabývat tím, o jaký vztah s církví nedemokratické režimy usilovaly. Zda prosazovaly represe, kooptaci, či nějakou formu "tiché dohody". V závěru práce a v návaznosti na předešlé otázky se budu snažit zodpovědět otázku, zda katolická církev byla v daných zemích otevřená spolupráci nebo zastávala spíše konfrontační postoj, a jaký měl tento postoj vliv na formu, průběh a výsledek tranzice, a jak se promítl do pozdější konsolidace demokracie.
