The Polyneoptera group comprises ten insect orders exhibiting immense variability in morphology, life-strategies, karyotypes and genome organization. Some of the orders have been shown to significantly differ in karyotype structure and mechanisms of karyotype evolution. However, many of the Polyneoptera orders remain cytogenetically understudied. The Ph.D. thesis presents five manuscripts that expand our cytogenetic knowledge of the orders Blattodea and Zoraptera. Blattodea represents one of the most karyotypically diverse orders within Polyneoptera. The manuscripts focus on summarization of the cytogenetic data available for the order and analysis of karyotype evolution in Oxyhaloinae (Blaberidae) cockroaches - one of the most karyotypically diverse Blattodean lineages. Zoraptera is one of the cytogenetically understudied insect orders. However, knowledge on Zoraptera karyotypes is important for understanding karyotype evolution in Polyneoptera, since it is one of its earliest branching lineages. The manuscripts introduce pioneering karyotype descriptions for Zoraptera species and analyze the group's karyotype evolution. The evolutionary phenomena (holocentricity, polyploidization, genome size change, repeatome distribution and evolution of sex chromosome systems) occurring in the karyotype...en_US
Skupina Polyneoptera zahrnuje deset hmyzích řádů s ohromnou variabilitou v jejich morfologii, životních strategiích, karyotypech a organizací genomu. U některých z těchto řádů byly zjištěny signifikantní odlišnosti ve struktuře karyotypu a mechanismech karyotypové evoluce. Nicméně, mnoho řádů skupiny Polyneoptera je stále cytogeneticky slabě prostudovaných. Disertační práce zahrnuje pět manuskriptů rozšiřujících cytogenetické poznání řádů Blattodea a Zoraptera. Zahrnuté manuskripty obsahují jedny z prvních popisů karyotypů a analýzu karyotypové evoluce v rámci Zoraptera. V disertační práci jsou diskutovány evoluční fenomény (holocentricita, polyploidizace, změna velikosti genomu, distribuce repetic a evoluce...cs_CZ
