Substance use disorder represents a serious health, psychological, and social problem. In the context of institutional protective treatment, where patients' autonomy is limited, the motives influencing their decision to pursue abstinence play a key role. The aim of this thesis was to analyze the motivation of male patients in institutional protective treatment toward abstinence and to identify specific motives that influence this motivation. At the same time, these findings are interpreted in connection with the theoretical part of the thesis, including their placement within the stages of change according to the model of James Prochaska and Carlo DiClemente. The research had a qualitative, exploratory design. Data were collected through semi- structured interviews with 18 adult men undergoing protective treatment for addiction and analyzed using thematic analysis. The results show that motivation for abstinence represents a complex and dynamic process that exists on a continuum from external through combined to internal motivation. Internal motivation appears to be more stable and more closely associated with readiness for change, whereas external motivation is linked to a lower level of problem awareness and a greater dependence on external factors. A significant finding is the presence of...en_US
Zároveň ji interpretovat ve spojitosti v rámci teoretické části práce, včetně zařazení do kontextu fází procesu změny dle modelu Prochasky a DiClementeho.
